Vacation Bible School (VBS), July 8-12, 2019 “In the Wild” at Peniel Baptist Church, Aruba

VBS Summary:

What a joy to spend that week with the children of Aruba!  Thanks to all the parents that gave us that opportunity.  Through the Bible lessons and the group rotations (Crafts, Mission, Recreation, Snacks, Music), the group leaders were able to teach, encourage, and challenge the children to know who Jesus Christ is and what He has done and has promised to do for us.

As one child said: “We had fun.”  It was indeed a fun week.  Several children and youth were able to memorize and recite that theme verse in more than 3 languages!  What a blessing!

Theme Scripture:

“But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you might have life through his name.”  John 20:31

An average of 134 children including youth participated daily from 9 am – 1 pm.  More than 20 children professed faith in Jesus Christ!  Hallelujah!  On the Friday evening closing ceremony, the main area in the new building was filled with the families of the children.

The Elders at Peniel Baptist Church want to sincerely thank everyone for another successful VBS:

  1. Thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for a safe VBS!
  2. Thanks to all the parents for bringing their children; your trust in us will not be taken for granted;
  3. Thanks to Cesar and Carolina for their leadership;
  4. Thanks also to all the Peniel church members and others who volunteered their time and resources to serve these children of Aruba!  As stated in the Bible by the Apostle Paul in I Corinthians 15:58, that act of service (that good work) is not in vain in the Lord;
  5. Thanks for all the work and sacrifice in the preparation of VBS; The decorations were very well done and showed tremendous talents.
  6. Thanks to Operation Christmas Child for the gift boxes given to each child and youth;
  7. Thanks also to all those who prayed and helped support the path to completion of the new building, such that both downstairs’ and upstairs’ rooms of the building could be used for VBS 2019!

Vacation Bible School in Colombia

A group of members from Peniel Aruba Baptist Church went on a missionary trip to Colombia, in South America, to host a Vacation Bible School for children of the “Centro Vacacional Recreativo Con Jesús”. The VBS theme was Colossal Coaster World and many kids were reached with the ligth of the Gospel of Jesus.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Hallelujah!

That is the way you explain what is happening at Peniel.

In October 4-12, 2013, a small group of Peniel members went on a mission trip to Barranquilla, Colombia to lead a Vacation Bible School (VBS) and help CENFOL church grasp the blessings of a VBS.  It was a blessing, indeed!  CENFOL had already been preparing by having several of their members take the first Level 1 course of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF).  The Aruba CEF board members on the trip were rejoicing to see the spiritual fruit of the financial contributions for the CEF training/materials.  Hallelujah!

The VBS was held in Malambo (an area just outside of Barranquilla), Colombia.  The average attendance was 94 children, with more than half making professions of faith in Jesus Christ!  CENFOL church has continued to make Saturday visits and Bible studies/activities with the children in Malambo.  And Peniel plans to send a small team to help repair the damaged roof of that school in Malambo where the VBS was held.  We thank the Lord Jesus for the opportunity, and also thank CEF Aruba, Peniel members, Pastor Ahumada and members at CENFOL, and the directors/teachers at the Malambo school.  We also want to thank Greg and Susan Simank, and the members of Nassau Bay Baptist Church (NBBC) for the years of VBS training provided to Peniel.

The Peniel members on that mission trip included: Vicky Oleana, Susana Trujillo, Yolleth Romano, Jovianne Romano, Marjolein Rutgers, Angelica Cano, Suzette Charles, and Pastor Cedric Charles.

Thanks – March 25th 2012

Peniel Baptist Church celebrated 7 years at its location at Santa Cruz 2D, Aruba in January 2012. What a blessing! I want to say “Thanks” to all who have prayed, supported, and encouraged this ministry. You have all made this a blessing, indeed!

For the January 2012 Peniel celebrations, we had my Pastor, Dr. David Fannin (Houston TX) and his wife with us; we also had Pastor Jose Colchado (Trujillo, Peru) and his wife with us. Several Pastors on Aruba along with other saints, families, and friends attended the celebrations. What a blessing, indeed! Praise the LORD!

During the month, we also had the privilege to ordain Harold Esquivel into the Gospel Ministry. Pastor Harold, his wife and son are continuing to serve at Peniel. Pastor Harold’s mother, Carmen Rosa from Peru, was also present to witness the ordination of her son.

My wife and I are truly grateful for all who worked so hard to make the celebrations such a success and blessing! We continue to rejoice in what the Lord Jesus has done! We are so blessed to see the hand of God working in and through the saints of God!

In Psalm 100, the Psalmist gives us a very good example of a heart filled and overflowing with thanks. Like the Psalmist:

  1. This thankful heart gives praise to God (vs.1) making a joyful noise to Yahweh! This is joy in spite of the circumstances.
  2. This thankful heart serves God (vs.2). This is serving the Lord (Yahweh) not out of compulsion or obligation or force! This serving involves expending considerable energy and intensity in serving God through others. This serving is with gladness, even in unfavorable circumstances! This thankful heart comes before the LORD’s presence with singing, Hallelujah!
  3. This thankful heart knows God (vs.3) as Yahweh, and as Elohim: the Covenant keeping God. Yes, God is Creator, the Shepherd who has his own pasture. This thankful heart knows that this Creator God is good and merciful (vs.5).
  4. This thankful heart gives Thanks to God (vs.4). The thankful heart acknowledges that he must enter into the gates of the lord’s presence with thanksgiving, coming with something to give! And oh, the joy of giving praise to God!

Thanks for being there, praying, helping, encouraging us in the work of the Lord!

We pray that you will all continue to pray for us as we serve the Lord! Thanks.

Pastor Cedric Charles
